Description

On 18 ^th December 2003 the Parliament of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina unanimously adopted the Integrated Regional Development Plan of AP Vojvodina (IRDP) as a support to the socio-economic development of the province, as well as to bring Vojvodina closer to the European integration processes. Within the IRDP 14 priority programmes were defined, one of which was the Centre for Strategic Economic Studies Vojvodina-CESS.

Centre for Strategic Economic Studies Vojvodina-CESS d.o.o. is a non-profit organization founded on 7th July 2004 by the Executive Council of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and University of Novi Sad. The Centre has 3 full time employees as well as external associates, mainly the professors of the University of Novi Sad, which are engaged, together with the Centre's employees in project activities.

The Centre's mission is to focus on the basic economic and social issues relevant to the Vojvodina's future in the context of regional cooperation, establish and develop scientific capacities for economic forecasting and raise the level of awareness about Vojvodina's development, its possibilities, strategies and directions of future development.

The Centre's also carries out activities on implementation and up-date of the IRDP, provides support in implementation of the individual priority programmes, performs continuous work on the update of EX-POST analysis of the development status of Vojvodina, assists managers of the individual IRDP programmes in implementation of their tasks and also performs EX-ANTE and EX-POST evaluation of the IRDP.

The Centre performs macroeconomic research in Vojvodina, works on the creation of a unique database which will contain information on demographic and economic potential of the Vojvodina's economy, performs sectoral analysis, than analysis of statistical time series of Vojvodina, as well as analysis of investment environment, observes macroeconomic trends and development indicators of the Vojvodina's economy as well as analyzes economic, demographic and technological trends in Europe with respect to their implications on the economic development of the AP Vojvodina.

With regard to the European integration processes the Centre provides coordinational support to expert and administrative activities of the provincial government as well as support related to communication between the Vojvodinian government with the governments of the Republic of Serbia and EU. The Centre also provides support to the creation and implementation of the Strategy on Education of Public Administration on Issues Related to the European Integration Processes in cooperation with the EU Integration Office of the government of Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-government and Public Administration Agency. The Centre assists in defining strategies and priorities related to the projects financed by the EU funds, provides support in finding new sources of financing, structural and cohesion funds, cross-border cooperation funds, as well as works on preparation of donation strategies.

The Centre also carries out educational activities, mainly organizes seminars, training courses and round table discussions for the representatives of provincial government pertaining to implementation of the IRDP, economic development of the Province, public administration reforms, scientific and technological development and similar.
